Sarah and Matthew’s wedding day took place in two very different locations, with the first half being their Stockport Plaza wedding ceremony. This was followed by a reception at the Roman Lakes in Marple. Two very different venues, but ones that reflect Matthew’s love for music, and Sarah’s love for the countryside perfectly.
If you haven’t visited Stockport Plaza before, you need to get yourself there immediately. Built in the 1930’s, this cinema and theatre is the stuff of my art deco loving dreams. It has been wonderfully restored back to its former glory, and blows my mind every time I visit. You can probably tell I’m a bit of fan. Don’t even get me started on how wonderful the staff are, and how amazing the cafe is.
Sarah and Matthew married on the theatre stage in front of their families and friends. This wonderful pair then treated their guests to a David Attenborough film and ice-cream, before everyone made their way over to the Roman Lakes at Marple in the sunshine.
I had never been to the Roman Lakes before meeting Sarah and Matthew, it’s a bit of a hidden gem. Tucked away down a winding, bumpy road in Marple, is a beautiful lake surround by woodlands. The reception took place in the tea rooms, and was a very relaxed affair. Guests got to hang out by the lake, and eat hotdogs supplied by Fat Annies, wedding food heaven. The day was then topped off by a one night only performance from Matthews reformed band, a definite crowd pleaser as you can imagine.
It was an absolute joy to photograph this day, thanks so much for having me along!
