Portraits in Northern Quarter // Kirsten and Mark
I always love doing portraits in the Northern Quarter area of Manchester. It’s always makes for a great backdrop and no matter how many times I photograph around there I always find something new and interesting. I guess it has a bit of reputation these days for being the hipster part of town, a new bar or restaurant seems to open every week, I can’t keep up… probably because I’m really un-hip, is that a word?
So I’ll give you a bit of info about Kirsten and Mark. Both are very talented musicians; so when something is such a huge part of your life it seems only right to incorporate that into your pre-shoot which is exactly what they did. The residents were even treated to a little tune from Mark, hopefully it wasn’t too early for them!
They brought the music, laughs and comical hipster faces to their portrait shoot, I love it when my couples don’t take things too seriously and just concentrate on having a good time. After spending some time walking around the back streets of Manchester we headed into Fig And Sparrow (if you haven’t been in here already then make sure you pay them a visit next time you’re in the city, it’s so lovely!); Kirstens favourite coffee shop of choice in the city, she goes in here almost every day. This was followed by a walk over the road and a brief stop off at Piccadilly Records for some photographs amongst the vinyl before we said our goodbyes for the day. I had such a great time with Kirsten and Mark, they’re so fun to be around and can’t wait to photograph their wedding in the Spring of 2016.
